Aharon Giladi (Golodetz) - Paintings and Drawings 1930-1970 - Signed and Inscribed Album

The Israeli painter Aharon Giladi (1907-1993) has published in 1971 a retrospective album which includes a selection of paintings and drawings from his work in the years 1930-1970. Giladi was born in Russia in 1907 and immigrated to Israel in 1929 at the age of 22. He spent many years in Kibbutz Afikim and then moved to Tel-Aviv where he was known as a unique expressionist painter whose paintings are immersed with melancholy, humanism and kindheartedness. In many of his paintings he draws people, families and especially mothers and their children.
This beautiful unique collectible album includes an preface written by Yona Fischer who was the curator of Israeli Art in the Israel Museum, Jerusalem at the time of publication.

גלעדי הוא כסיפורה של אהבה ראשונה המתקיימת לעולם. הוא עוסק בו באותה מידה של יראת
כבוד, קפדנות, מסירות והתלהבות שיש לאדם הבוטח באמונתו. מאז ומתמיד מבטא ציורו את
סיפורה של אהבתו מעבר למושגי הזמן: זהו ציור שלא ידע תמורות של ממש - לא תמורות
סגנוניות ולא תמורות של הרגש. זהו - במשפט אחד - עולם של דימויים שהאדם קובע בו את
חותמו מעצם נוכחותו. התבוננו בדפים שלפניכם: בכולם מתואר האדם בסביבה שהוא קשור בה
כשם שהיא קשורה בו. ואפילו תגלו שני רישומי נוף שהדמות נעדרת מתוכם, הם נתפסו בקנה
מידתו ומעצם נוכחותו של האדם." כך כותב

הוצאתו לאור של אלבום ציוריו של אהרון גלעדי.
לעמוד הראשון של מהדורת האספנות של האלבום מוצמד חיתוך עץ ממוספר 4/120 שנושאו משפחה סביב שולחן האוכל. חיתוך עץ זה משקף את סגנונו הייחודי של גלעדי כצייר: תווי הפנים של בני המשפחה - אב, אם, ילדים, סבא וסבתא מאחור, אינם מאופיינים כמעט. קווי המתאר השחורים והחזקים של הדמויות משתלבים ומסתבכים בקווי המתאר של העצמים שברקע (שולחנות, חלונות, כסאות) ויוצרים מרקם אחיד שמכתיב את אופייה הכבד והמלנכולי של הסצנה. חיתוך העץ בצבעי ירוק זיית, שחור ולבן, חתום בידי האמן ומתוארך. מתחת לחיתוך העץ, ישנה הקדשה אישית של האמן בעפרון ומימינה רישום דיוקנו כפי שנראה ב-1971 (מועד הוצאתו לאור של האלבום).

The first page of the album includes an original lithography of a family around the dinning table. The lithography is numbered and signed by the artist (4/120). In the specific copy of the album presented here, you can see a personal inscription written in verse, accompanied by a beautiful and rare self-portrait drawn in pencil.
