Aharon Giladi is an artist in the terms of the good old days, wrote Yona Fischer, the curator of the Ashdod Museum of Art, in his introduction to the retrospective art book Aharon Giladi (Golodetz) - Paintings and Drawings which presents Giladi's art between the years 1930 and 1970. "Giladi's painting is reminiscent of an eternal first-love story", says Fischer - "He engages in it with the awe, severity, dedication and fervour of a person utterly confident in his belief. His painting has always given expression to the story of his love quite beyond any terms of time: this is painting which has never known worldly values - neither stylistic nor emotional. Simply, it is a universe of images on which man affixes his seal through his very presence". I agree.

Aharon Giladi's art is synonymous with humanism. His work baths in the pure atmosphere which enwraps those who are close to the earth in both body and soul and with their holy light he presents the human cell to which he belongs - family and flowers.
עם כל התבוננות נוספת בציוריו של אהרון גלעדי, הולכת ומתחזקת אצלי ההכרה בגדולתו של אמן זה, בשליטתו המוחלטת במכחול ובצבעים ובעומקה של תפיסתו האסתטית והאנושית את המציאות. גלעדי הוא בעת ובעונה אחת גם אמן אוניברסלי וגם מקומי לחלוטין. הדמויות, מבחר הנושאים המצומצם, האור, כולם מקומיים לחלוטין, ארץ ישראלים. יתר על כן, גם בתוך הכותרת הגדולה של "ארץ ישראל" ציוריו הם חד-פעמיים - ארץ ישראל שנשקפת מהם חלפה לבלי שוב. מי שמטייל בישראל של היום יוכל, בנקודות מסוימות בטיולו, לנסות ולהיאחז במראות הנוף כמפתחות של געגועים לארץ הנוכחת בציוריו של גלעדי. לעומת זאת, הכלים, השפה, האמצעים שבהם השתמש גלעדי כדי להנציח את העושר המקומי הזה הם אוניברסלים. הם מספרים את סיפורו של המקום ללא צורך בידע מוקדם ובהכנה עובדתית או רגשית. הם מדברים ישירות אל המתבונן בהם מעבר למחסומי השפה והידע.

גלעדי מצייר את דמויותיו ללא תווי פנים. הוא משיל מעל ארבע הדמויות שבתמונה כל מידה של עצמיות ומתיך אותן לשלם חברתי מורכב, שחלקיו אינם עומדים לעצמם אלא נבלעים לתוך מערכת היחסים שביניהם. זה רעיון מדהים כשלעצמו, ואף קשה לעיכול מן הפרספקטיבה המודרנית הנרקיסיסטית. המחיקה ואולי נכון לומר הוויתור על תוי הפנים, מאפשרים לו להסתכל על המשפחה כחלק אינטגרלי מן החלל הביתי שמקיף אותם. אגרטל הפרחים שעל השולחן הופך לדמות חיה, קורנת ויוקדת שנוכחותה שוות משקל לארבע הדמויות האנושיות, הכל ביד אומן בוטחת: חלוקת הצבעים החמים והקרים, המשטחים הגיאומטריים הישרים ולעומתם הקונטורים הרכים והזורמים, והאור. שני מקורות האור שבתמונה, האם והתינוק שעל ידיה והפרחים הניצבים על השולחן, מעצימים ומחזקים זה את זה ומאירים החוצה אל העולם.
